Brazilian cartoonist Lacarmélio de Araújo wears a bright yellow suit and hits the streets of Belo Horizonte every morning to sell his own comic books.
He’s become a well-known street personality in this Brazilian town, acting out the part of Celton, his superhero creation. Without special powers, Celton is a hero for the common Brazilian: a high-spirited man who’s content selling magazines at stop signs to make a living.
“At just 13, 14 years old I was already in the streets selling popsicles, tangerines, selling lottery tickets, shining shoes,” he says in the latest Storyhunter video. “That’s what prepared me to sell comic books today.”
Lacarmélio says he lives comfortably from his earnings, selling more than one million copies.
