Scenes from the end of the 2008 Chicago Marathon, eight hours after it began.
The "upside" to finishing at the back of the pack is seeing the many people involved behind the scenes... the race officials, t.v. reporters covering the race, photographers who capture each runner, the crews who set up and break down the barricades, the medics on hand to attend to those in distress... and each runner who trained for months to cross the finish line!
NOTE: The determined gentleman featured in this video is Mr. Tom Warders from Fort Collins, Colorado. At the age of 80, he has completed numerous marathons (including Boston). In 2004, he suffered a major heart attack while at the wheel of his car... and now runs with a pacemaker!
