Let’s make a stop in a place so picturesque it is marketed as “the little Venice of Africa”. In the small West African country of Benin, Ganvie is a village built on stilts lying on the Nokoue river. With its two districts and forty five thousand inhabitants, it’s the largest water village of the region, and usually attracts scores of tourists. But in recent years, visitor numbers have dropped and the infrastructure is creaking.
