Documentation of Action Painting (Masculine Expressionism).
Action Painting is a series of adrenaline-filled painterly animations composed using shapes and sounds sampled from Hollywood action film sequences. The project is presented as a multichannel video installation, projected onto large-scale painting canvases.
This video demonstrates the motion tracking process using a scene from the film Ronin. Here, custom software created with OpenFrameworks searches each and every frame of the explosion sequence, looking for areas that that have changed since the previous frame. The shapes it finds are highlighted in red.
