There are rush jobs. And then, there are RUSH JOBS, which describes the story we told about the transformation of Mary Lyon Elementary School in Tacoma, Washington. We started working with a team of architects from IBI Group—Education, Pacific Northwest in the fall of 2019 to film scenes of the new building they designed for, and with, educators, students, parents, neighbors and community leaders. COVID halted our production plans until September 2020, when our clients contacted us to see whether we could finish the project because they had been named finalists for a prestigious global award and wanted to show the video during their final presentation to the award judges. We squeezed 12-weeks of filming, interviewing, story production, drone photography and editing work into two weeks, and delivered the video in time for our client’s final presentation. Rock-solid planning, coordination, and twenty years’ worth of storytelling experience made it happen. And while our client didn’t win the top prize, their passion, and this school, are winners in our book.
