Dec 21–22, 2012
For the first time, Chicago’s biggest celebration of Japanese culture and jazz is celebrating winter solstice with two of the world’s finest percussionists: Michael Zerang and Hamid Drake. Join us for a sonic and visual feast of taiko drumming, stylized kimono dance, and improvisations bridging jazz and Japanese court music. Tatsu Aoki directs three generations from Chicago and special guests from Tokyo and San Francisco. Co-presented by MCA Stage and Asian Improv Arts Midwest.
