This summer we invited our community, friends and family to join us for what we declared a "Food Truck Summer Picnic Series." Food trucks were always the first to show up, and were arguably the highlight of the series. They set up camp in our parking lot and filled the air with their delicious scents, and our stomachs with delicious foods. There was a wide variety of food options - everything from crab cakes...to cheese fritters...ham and bacon WAFFLE sandwiches...cupcakes galore...ice cream and much more. If you were hungry for it...chances are you could get it from one of the trucks...AND it would be better than you'd ever imagined! Trucks of the food variety were not the only on the scene.
The Bella Calla flower truck was a regular. Lilli and her dog teamed up to sell fresh flowers. You could buy a single stem or put together an entire bouquet...vase and all! The smart men in the crowd snuck over to the flower truck and surprised the lovely lady in their life with some beautiful green stemmed gems.
Live entertainment was also a big part of the evening. We had a pianist and singer duo, a teenage rock band, a folk singer, a violinist and some middle aged men who really "rocked our should" (their motto) ... some very talented folks.
What's the perfect compliment to good food and a warm summer evening...beverages! Yup...there was wine and beer flowing (and soda for the little ones). Party Liquor kindly gave out free samples all night...cool and refreshing!
And what picnic is complete without yard games?! Corn-hole, badminton, and the most popular of them all: xorbing. For those that don't know what "xorbing" is....think GIANT hamster ball. Yes... people of all ages were rolling around our lawn in human sized hamster balls.
The Gatehouse and Dove House were both open during the events for guests to explore. And, if you didn't already know...our houses are haunted. Like for reals. Ask the girls in the office and they'll tell you many a story. To offer some insight in this area...ParaFPI from Front Range set up a table at our events to tell tales of the many investigations they've done on site. OoOoOoOoooooh.
Regardless of all the action surrounding the events, simply socializing and getting to know our neighbors was a DELIGHT. We hope you join us next summer!
