The fourth Dama workshop in Reykjavík in May 2009 at the Raflost festival, hosted by the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Dama is a Nordic network which combines dance with new media in laboratory-like workshops. The members are Art schools, universities and other institutions.
This time there were total of 35 students from the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, University of Arts and Design in Helsinki, Icelandic Academy of the Arts in Reykjavík and The Turku University of Applied Sciences.
During one week, six groups of students created a performance, an installation, an interactive work or some sort of cross-art-media-performance combination of all or some of these. Thus the end results are quite rough and raw and almost impossible to document, but also freshness, humor and powerful emotions are visible.
