My ideas for this project have changed a lot since I began, but I think what came of them is definitely an improvement over what I started with. I was trying to visually express the dramatic differences in mood that a given place (In this case, Squirrel Ridge Park) can exude based on the time of day. For instance, how the exact same patch of forest can seem bright and cheerful one moment or claustrophobic and spooky another. I think montage was the perfect tool for this idea too, because, while the clips don't always match up perfectly, I think the effect of seeing the same path in different lights turned out to be really successful. Some clips are a bit shaky, but I really wanted the viewer to experience the video from a first person perspective, as though they were walking the trail themselves. I wasn't sure exactly how to conclude the video, but I knew that I wanted to use some of the extra clips I had of the sky in different spots at different times, because I feel like the sky emotes the changes in time best.
