Produced for an open day at Back Lane West artist project space in Redruth, Cornwall, which linked with
the St Piran's Festival in the town. The video features an alter bread painted with edible black paint, and the work refers to the legend associated with the symbolism of the St Piran's flag: that when St Piran was sitting by the fire in his hermitage , the heat from the flames cracked the black stone, revealing two seams of molten tin, which formed a white cross. St Piran is the patron saint of tin miners.
In the 6th century, St Piran is said to have miraculously floated over to the Cornwall on a millstone, having been cast into the sea by heathen Irish who did not appreciated his attempts to convert them to Christianity.
