This is the video I made for the Audio slideshow assignment for Integrated Multimedia Journalism. I used a monologue concept to give the viewers space to think about the questions being asked and the answers that come along after. The monologue also puts the viewer in the shoes of the interviewer, and encourages them to think of the interviewee's background and lifestyle.
I chose my father as the main character to this monologue because I wanted a more personal angle to the project. I've always wondered how he manages to eat his lunches and dinners while out at work on the roads, and what his daily routine looks like. This may seem like a difficult idea to grasp for some, but for the past 18 years, the only thing I know about my father's job, was that he leaves home in the morning to drive a blue taxi out until the wee hours of the morning. I took it upon me to find out more about his job and the trials and tribulations that come along with his line of occupation.
I wished the assignment allowed more freedom in terms of length, because I believe the video would have benefited if it was stretched out slightly longer, or was a full length documentary.
Hope you enjoyed it!
