TORRENTIAL rain and widespread flooding continued to cause havoc around Merseyside .
Police rescued nursery children trapped by rising flood water as Merseyside endured a day of torrential rain.
Around 10 tots became stranded as flood water surrounded the Jack and Jill Nursery in Brimstage, Wirral, yesterday.
Officers ferried the children through the water to their waiting mums and dads, although a police BMW became stuck and had to be pulled out by a rescue truck.
One mum who waited patiently to collect her three-year-old son said: "We didn’t have to wait too long – it was a smooth and quick operation. The police were really nice and made us warm and comfortable.
"Everything was relaxed and they took me to collect my son from the nursery so I wasn’t worried for him."
