On August 29th, 2012, on the 60th anniversary of the premiere of John Cage's 4'33", I travelled to Maverick Hall near Woodstock, New York, to document to this historic moment.
My work primarily deals with cultural responses to landscape. In this regard, I was interested in why Cage chose to premiere what was to eventually become his most famous and influential work - a work described as being about silence- at Maverick Hall, a partially outdoor venue in the Catskill Mountains.
