The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) is a four-day retreat and international film market. Founded in 1997, the festival is dedicated to strengthening the Black filmmaking community through resource sharing, education, artistic collaboration and career development. The ABFF (abff.com) was born out of the need to develop distribution opportunities for independent Black films and promote cultural diversity within the motion picture industry. Its unique dual audience of industry professionals and film enthusiasts provides a diverse and loyal base of support unmatched by any event of its kind. The festival originally began as the Acapulco Black Film Festival (5 years) and was renamed the American Black Film Festival.
