On Monday 10 September, I launched an experiment to show mainstream publishers that Australian business authors can generate the interest required to compete against American business authors. Mainstream publishers rarely accept book proposals from Australian business book authors. Their excuse is that Australia isn’t a large enough market. I’m determined to change all that! Not just for me but for every non-US author who has a book inside them waiting to get out.
Books take a long time to research, write, edit, index, produce, ship and go on sale. Almost all of that work happens on faith, and it’s then followed by a frenzy of promotion and anxiety, as the publisher and author try to find out if there’s actually desire for the book. As part of my quest to find a smarter, more effective way to produce and promote books, I launched a hybrid experiment. The idea is to do it in public, and to use widely available tools that can be emulated by other authors if it works. That’s my give to get!
By using Pozible early in the process, we eliminate book publisher/bookseller scepticism and create the excitement they need to actually stock and promote the book. Those books you see stacked up by the front window at the bookstore? That’s not an accident. That’s a promotion planned months in advance, based almost entirely on how optimistic the publisher is about a book’s prospects.
But, I’ll need your help with this one. I'm specifically seeking some corporations who would like to have me interview them and I will write at least half-a-page about something brave or powerful or remarkable they've done in business to be included in the book. For a pledge of $2,000 the corporation:
• Will be interviewed and written into the book
• Their name will be on a special page in the book —
• And they will receive 50 copies of the book to give away as corporate goodwill gifts.
• Sensational value for a $2,000 pledge.
Pledges can start for as low as $5 — pozible.com/ricbook1
