The sockeye are in! Watch our salmon fishing trip via Supercub to Alaska’s Outer Coast. We base camped on a lake near the sea coast and spiked out to a nearby river for a sockeye harvest mission. Later, the catch was soaked in a sea water and brown sugar brine using the ever handy bear-proof bucket. (The bear bucket turned out to be a convenient receptacle for brining fish, and it also kept the bears out of the loot!) We built a smoking rack out of driftwood right on the beach and pealed alders to burn for the proper smoke flavor. Delicious!
