As a young child I often came to visit Polygon Wood Memorial with my parents. I have vivid memories of the World War I memorial. Back then, the forest surrounding it was not accessible. Nowadays, the woods have been made accessible for the public and there is even a section made into a children’s playground area. This forest is actually one of the oldest in the country, and its history goes way back to the dark middle ages. In my turn, I like to visit this place with my kids, family and friends.
In WWI, it was the scene of heavy fighting and the forest was completely destroyed by heavy bombing and continuous shelling, as can be seen in the photographs at the end of the film.
