A Farm to Come Home To was the first digital story I ever made. While developing a new Literature of Lifewriting course at the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2006, I learned of the Center for Digital Storytelling and signed up for a workshop with Daniel Weinshenker in Denver. I had never seen a digital story when I walked into the first session but came prepared with lots of pictures from my childhood visits to my grandparents' farms in North Dakota and a draft script that connected those memories with the farm I have today in Colorado. I like how this digital story feels like a scrapbook or photo album of old family photos. The music is "Heidi" by my friend KC Groves, a talented singer-songwriter in our community who was part of the all-female old-time group Uncle Earl. This story eventually became part of a book manuscript eventually titled A Bushel's Worth: An Ecobiography and will be published August 2015 by Torrey House Press.
