I have, for a long time, been intrigued by the emotional experience of life and living striving for standstill.
Experiences made through quietening the body and mind. Small, yet quite perceptible micro-movements still occur. The countering of natural forces. The electrons in constant movement. Measuring, perhaps in a quasi-scientific way, these movements - the Standstill.
This particular piece is exploring micromovement in the Sverm-project at UIO: uio.no/english/research/groups/fourms/projects/sverm/
I will publish short poetic loops. Observations from this project, here on Vimeo on the 1. of every month.
4 loops in all. The next piece (1.november) will focus on Microsound.
Coming to timeline-based expressions from stills-photography, I experience the immensity of change in expression, the leaps of possibilities in storytelling when sequencing my still images.
Trying to explore and understand the changes in perception when a combination of two still images are shown sequentially, in relation to other combinations. Of three images sequenced, and then four. There are rythms and patterns there.
Progressing to the standards of film-making 15, 24 and 25 images per second and beyond, into extreme high speed recordings.
In this practice I have stretched time to what I consider is an extreme but still perceptible experience of motion in the project "The Others ..Waiting"
