This is my first test with the D7000. It's nothing earth shattering, just footage outside my house. I went out at the perfect time and got footage before magic hour, during magic hour, and just after. Giving me a great range of light to test out.
The purpose of the test was to put my custom picture control through its paces. I set the sharpness and other settings to my liking. But use a special brightness/contrast curve designed specifically to give the camera's video a "film" level of detail. (This custom curve is called the "AlvaroYus-Curve." It can be downloaded and used on any Nikon camera from here: alvaroyus.com/) Due to being a test of the in camera controls, this video has no post alterations what so ever.
So far, I am very happy with the results. RAW pictures need to be adjusted in post to make up for the low contrast/flat look. But the loss of megapixels from picture to video, makes the video look great at these settings. The next test will be altering the video in post to see if it can be sweetened any more.
