In the mid 60's, if you wanted to surf a shortboard, you had to build it. Steve Coletta is a master craftsman, At 73 years old he is best known as one of the best surfboard builders to ever come out of Central California, but he's also a family man, great surfer and two time cancer survivor. "I lived to surf and shape again" says Steve. Last year Steve walked away from the career side of shaping and he and his wife Renee packed their bags and moved to Mexico. His son Kalu decided to take over the family business known as Natural Curves surfboards and carry on the Tradition. "Kalu is really hitting his stride as a shaper / board builder. His design, shaping detail, fin work and color are pleasant to the eye and to the riders surfing. Very few surfer / shapers with those kind of skills." says Steve. Click play to hear more.
