What makes our communities livable and resilient? Living Maps: From Cosmos to Community explores the conditions and interconnected systems that support complex life, from the outer edges of the solar system to communities in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina. "The Conditions for Life" is the first of a three-part series, using scientific data from NASA, NOAA, and elsewhere to visualize Earth in its cosmic context. This was originally created for an interactive presentation within the GeoDome immersive learning environment by the Worldviews Network for the National Environmental Modeling and Analysis Center in Asheville, NC in 2011.
