In 1985, composer Tom Johnson wanted to find out what it sounds like if you play all existing chords within an octave on the piano, one by one -- all 8178 of them. In 2002, Samuel Vriezen (me) learned to play the piece, and managed to play it in half an hour, in a virtuoso whirlwind performance. Now, in 2012, I want to record my interpretation on CD for the German label Edition Wandelweiser -- together with my own tribute to Tom, the lyrical work Within Fourths/Within Fifths from 2006.
