This work references the urban designer Lucio Costa's modern and mythological urban design proposal that unfolded into a rich ideological plan for the country. I am interested in the proposals concept and the actual outcome of these ideas pushing against or aiding a community it was designed for.
I have combined this aspect of the country's development with the luminous city of Alto Paraíso de Goiás (High Paradise).
Alto Paraíso is specifically known for its bountiful quarts quarries; and is location to more then 40 mystical, philosophical, and religious groups that have given it the name “The Brazilian Capital of the Third Millennium.”
The video was shot both in Westport, CT at Compo Beach and in Bridgeport, CT urban housing district. It aims to point back to a utopian idea of 'collective integration,' and what would a place look like if two such contrastingly different communities could integrate and work together to build a diversely rich community.
