Gary is a motion designer in Perth, Western Australia, with 30+ years experience in graphic design. First in print, then in motion media for the past 10 years. In love with After Effects and all it can do. Passionate about exploring that space where design meets movement and sound. Recently introduced to the wonders of Mettle’s ShapeShifter and already addicted to that 3rd dimension.
I wanted to stray a little from the slightly battle-worn, metallic, techy feel of most current takes on the superhero series of identities, and so I've attempted to suggest something of the early comic book versions of Superman by using a ‘halftone-screen’ style, while hopefully keeping the contemporary essence of it, with desaturated reds, blues and pale gold. I’ve added a slightly patriotic touch in the US flag. It looks like perhaps the halftone dots in the logo itself are embedded in some kind of resin... ‘krypto-crylic’?
3D shape morph + 3D model created entirely in After Effects using ShapeShifter AE + variable feather masking.
