Brad and Jason are two veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Victim of psychological trauma of war, their daily life is cannibalized by very specific effects related to the form that has taken their commitment to the front. Haunted by nightmares, desocialized and suffering a total lack of self-confidence, they agreed to take part of an internship of 8 weeks in a ranch in New Mexico. Their hope lies in the "Cowboy Up! Therapy "proposed by the Association for HORSES HEROES.
Its creator is Rick Iannucci, former soldier and cowboy by profession. Based on the equine ethology - for which the movie "The Horse Whisperer " (R. REDFORD, 1998) has done so much for the global recognition - Rick takes up the concept of a western riding based on “mirror” relationships between the rider and his horse. Two key words: honesty and trust. Yielding their "leadership" to their riders, these horses will facilitate the intimate reconstruction of these man and allow them to achieve as a duo what they dread to do as a person.
The slow and gradual friendship of two veterans with their colt will be guiding an exploration of contemporary wars. These wars' specificities give us a better understanding of clinical psychic wounds and protocols need to oppose them. Supported by numerous archival footage, this exploration will be lead by speeches of historians and psychiatrists who will allow us to follow step by step or war after war the advances of military psychiatry.
Finally, it will highlight the political and military doctrines regarding war psychiatry and praise for this citizens' initiative that offers original second chance to broken hero of our distant conflicts.
