For Gamers: Serious Game
What are the main themes moving the gaming industry in 2012? Once a year the German Federal Association of the Computer Games Industry, known fittingly as G.A.M.E., organizes an industry-wide get-together for representatives from the more than one hundred member businesses making up the association. At their meeting in December 2011, game developers discussed their expectations for the upcoming 2012 calendar year as well as the challenges facing the industry in general. At the request of G.A.M.E., dan pearlman was also in attendance this year, documenting the goings on and industry discussions with our camera team. Highlighted in the videos are interviews with senior executives and the association board as well as industry giants and designers.
The aim was to appraise key industry ideas and to make this information available for use by the industry itself, by the media and for introducing the industry to a broader general audience. Hot topics like the fascinating aspects of the computer industry today, industry perspectives and the responsibilities of the association provide an insider’s view of a successful industry.
Created to serve multiple purposes, the videos can be used for a variety of contexts and aims—for attracting new association members, for ensuring the transparency of the association’s activities and for making information about the objectives of the games industry available to any social or political organizations. Interested parties can learn more about the games industry in upcoming weeks by viewing the three-minute long films at the G.A.M.E. website. And for those who have always sought an answer to the question “Serious Games – all of life is a game?” one has finally found the right address.
