The nine-week program brings students aged 14-18 to Spiva Center for the Arts to participate in art activities, collaborate with other artists, and expand their relationship to the art community. The main objectives include blogging, networking, and exploring artistic mediums. The program has grown since January 2011, with just 5 enrolled, to 13 enrolled in the January 2012 session. A nine-week commitment is required, with students meeting at Spiva for 3 hours one night a week, and dinner included.
Art Lounge costs $99, this includes all art supplies, and meals. Scholarships are available for anyone who is interested in attending, but unable to afford the class.

The curriculum is developed by Nellie Mitchell, Art Teacher from Joplin MO (She teaches K-4 Art in Webb City). The curriculum is meant to be an extension of the art room, a course designed for advanced artists to explore beyond a regular classroom experience.
