Inga demonstrates how to make cupcakes from Zucchini, and covers the basics of breeding through Artificial Insemination on her organic dairy farm. Pregnant cows are needed for milk production!
About Around the Farm Table:
Around the Farm Table is dedicated to connecting consumers to the thoughtful producers who are the heart and soul of small, regional agriculture. We’re farmers- and we’re also musicians, so we use storytelling, entertainment, forgotten recipes– and real information about sustainable agriculture to communicate the true value of the high quality products small scale farmers work so hard to produce. All of this happens Around the Farm Table.
The first few episodes feature Inga and her organic Dairy farm, St. Isidore’s Mead in western Wisconsin. You’ll get to know Inga, her small herd of Jerseys and see up close life on the farm, accompanied with great, seasonal food with some home grown music.
Looking forward, Inga features farms and products from Deedon Lake Apple Orchard (Apples, community Cider Making), Permagreen Pastures (Turkens, Eggs) Turnip Rock Farm (Community Supported Agriculture) Deutsch Family Farms (Pork) and a visit to Hayriver Pumpkin Seed Oil (Pumpkin) this fall.
Funding the mission of Around the Farm Table:
We bring the same care and attention to producing Around the Farm Table as we do tending to life on the farm. The overhead to produce these episodes comes at a cost including loads of writing and editing time for our three primary staff members, Inga Witscher, Joe Maurer and Rick Witscher. To take the project to the next level we need to create our own production company which will allow us to have 100+ farmer stories on a website as well as a broadcast series. Future overhead costs will include full time editing and production staff and production equipment.
