Betty Hauck’s life as a classical musician came to a halt when she began to lose her hearing. It started with small but important cues – not understanding what the conductor was saying to the orchestra, and not hearing a singer come into the music. For three years she turned her back on music entirely, and later returned to advocate for her fellow musicians with hearing loss.
Stories like Betty’s – the real world impact on patients with hearing loss – inspire our efforts every day to advance a restorative treatment for acquired sensorineural hearing loss.
