In 1984, Virginia spoke of her work as “a sacred trust” and her approach as a manifestation of life in which perhaps some things have been closed off.”
A quarter century later, Virginia’s words continued to speak to Seth Eisenberg and so he created “Operation Sacred Trust” as a novel approach to ending Veteran homelessness and has directed the nationally-accredited program since opening its doors to serve Miami’s homeless and at-risk veterans in 2011. Since then, Operation Sacred Trust has been credited with ending and preventing homelessness for thousands of very low-income veteran families and has received more than $18 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Today, Operation Sacred Trust is a testament to Virginia’s approach, integrating her teachings into the training of the program’s nearly 50 full-time professionals and client services that reached 1,800 veterans and their family members last year.
Seth will talk about why Virginia’s work remains as important to ending Veteran homelessness as housing itself, and opportunities to expand Virginia’s impact to vulnerable communities that are most in need.
