This symposium took place June 15-21, 2012 during the Emory Studies in Italy study abroad program, led by Judy Raggi-Moore and Ruth Parker. This symposium involved wiki sessions where students and professionals worked together closely to discuss and explore the complex tensions between dualities such as health and illness as well as community and alienation. While traveling together in the beautiful setting of Southern Italy, faculty and students discussed beauty, balance, & harmony; death, dying & suffering; and compassion & communication. As faculty on the Emory study abroad program, I worked with Murphey Parker to interview the faculty who so graciously gave of their time to join us: In this documentary, we hope to share the thoughts of stellar professionals regarding Lessons in Arts and Humanities for Medicine & Public Health. You will also enjoy footage of the sites students visited in Southern Italy.
