Something special is happening on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Amidst all the concerns of dwindling fish populations worldwide, the commercial fishermen in Minnesota have a positive fish tale to tell. Thanks to sustainable fishing methods and management the Lake Superior Herring (Coregonus artedi) is back.
I wrote, directed, filmed and edited this short web series. Building on the work of Minnesota SeaGrant I enlisted the help of my graduate seminar class and one wandering mechanical engineer at the University of Minnesota Duluth VIZ | LAB (where I am currently a graduate assistant). Together we planned this idea of telling a positive commercial fisheries story into existence.
Earlier this year we were awarded a small grant from the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota. This support has made some of the more challenging parts of production possible.
