Just wanted to see how "analogue" videos out of the 5D Mk II could look and if they can be used for "serious" work, if/how you can work around most of it's known shortcomings (rolling shutter, aliasing, non-optimal compression) and especially if rolling shutter would be very dominant without a stabilizer.
So I grabbed my new 5D last weekend - literally out of the box, using the kit lens (24-105mm 4:1) - without any kind of stabilizer nor tripod. Only tuned down in-camera contrast and sharpness to their minimum values and turned down saturation one notch to leave more room for color correction (and I'm not a fan of the default very high contrast/high saturation look).
I didn't have much time this week so I basically just slammed the clips together, did a 2.5:1 crop/matte and applied a CC preset from an old project.
And yeah I admit it, I'm now guilty of the "my-dog/cat-small-DOF-closeup" myself... ;)
