Jerusalem: A Heavenly Vision, a collection of oil paintings by Anne Marie Adonyi (1952-2011). For over 30 years, this accomplished artist has exhibited from galleries in Europe to the Middle East. Adonyi’s work has a distinct vitality relating to ancient icons, mosaics, and illuminated manuscripts, while presenting a new view of reality that is solely hers. After her sudden passing in November of 2011, this will be the first exhibit her family has organized without her. Yet, the paintings were chosen according to her notes and wishes. Jerusalem: A Heavenly Vision attempts to honor her legacy and to bring joy to those who see her work.
Much of Adonyi's work stemmed from her great passions: God, nature, people, and the love of art. She chose to capture, illuminate, and interpret the beauty of the world around her; focusing on her faith in depictions of attentive angels, the hope of heaven, and inspired Biblical passages. During her lifetime, Adonyi created more than 600 paintings, thousands of drawings and sketches, and numerous tapestries, textiles, and mosaics related to her vision and experiences. Today, almost a year after her death, her works continue to be admired by art enthusiasts and to inspire many. Her website showcases the wider body of work: annemarieadonyi.com/.
