Awareness: the state or condition of being aware; having knowledge; consciousness.

The "Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation (MRPF) Awareness Campaign" (MAC) illustrates the many ways in which spinal cord injury and paralysis touch every one every day. It reminds us that no matter where and how we live, each one of us can be more aware when it comes to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. For better or for worse, like it or not, our thoughts promote our actions and healthy behaviors are key to a higher quality of life. This campaign illustrates that rehabilitation of the mind, body, and spirit is vital to your life and mine, so just "work out!"

The Awareness campaign is only one of MRPF's programs besides the Healing Center. The aim of the program is to increase awareness surrounding spinal cord injuries and paralysis while getting the foundation's name in front of a larger audience. The campaign started with just a few videos on the YouTube channel, and we are currently working to incorporate other social media outlets along with our new blog ( to create a larger, interconnected platform.

Since we launched the Awareness Campaign in December 2011, we have seen incredible growth as the campaign continues to gain momentum; our videos have had over 70,000 views in over 180 countries in just 10 short months. This means M.R's story and mission has reached tens of thousands of people across the globe, and will only continue to spread as people share these videos with their friends and families through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
