The project is to find an issue which is related to sustainability around us. According to the requirement, me and my partner Jennifer find that, among major US cities, New York City has relatively high numbers of rainy days. In those days, the umbrella becomes an important object. We observed the New Yorkers' behaviors in the rainy day and took pictures for them. Then, we collected the relevant data from website. It shows that modern umbrellas are usually made of metals and nylon, which cannot be recycled and decay very slowly. In addition, people always forget to bring umbrellas in the rainy day, and keep purchasing for new one. The materials of the umbrella are unsustainable, and the utilization rate of umbrella is relatively low. We made this video to show the umbrella issue in NYC, and hope to increase the awareness of this issue.
