Synopsis
'Hole' - a hand-drawn black and white animation - shows several subterranean landscapes. Places that only by human intervention can be illuminated.
Directors Statement
'Hole' is made by drawing subterranean landscapes on half transparent sheets which were placed above a LCD screen - showing films of natural light: aurora, lightning, sunrise. By photographing the set-up frame for frame, these two layers came together. Intuitively, Hole connects these landscapes with cinematic elements: the cave becomes a camera obscura, the moon a pinhole, the sun a projector.
