Watch this video series about the Jane Goodall Institute's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center (TCRC) in the Republic of Congo. Founded in 1992, TCRC is the largest chimpanzee sanctuary in Africa. Today, TCRC is home to more than 150 chimpanzees, victims of the illegal commercial bushmeat trade.
In the fourth video of this series, you'll see the team working on the island build-out and some of the innovative tools developed to address construction challenges in this remote environment. This video specifically highlights how the team dealt with soil that was too moist to hold up some of the fencing on the island.
