Start of second day - we realize that we are out of 'safe' water, and the Panjshir River is not an option as its the valley's plumbing despite Travis' suggestion to "just drink the rivah water, mate" (insert Aussie accent)...I don't even trust my water sterilizer for this. So instead we stock up on juice boxes and coca cola. Second problem is that if we want to attempt the 14,000 foot Anjuman Pass that marks the boundary of Panjshir, we will have to spend the night in the open - as there are no more villages. My idea is that we'll sleep (all 5 of us) in the one 4x4 with the bikes, in the remote mountains of Afghanistan. No one likes my idea. But we borrow blankets and a tea kettle just in case.
