Muriel Summers, principal at A.B. Combs Elementary School in Raleigh, N.C., talks about how The Leader in Me began 13 years ago. Summers was onsite at Cumberland Trace Elementary School in Bowling Green, Ky., to train Warren County Public Schools teachers about The Leader in Me.
The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce is collaborating with the Bowling Green Independent Schools, the Warren County Public Schools and the FranklinCovey(r) organization to implement TLIM in our schools. This collaboration will result in Bowling Green-Warren County being the first in the nation to have implemented the approach in all schools and in all grades, K-12.
The Leader in Me develops leaders, recognizing that all children have the potential to lead. With an integrated approach to teaching leadership using Dr. Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, TLIM uses the 7 Habits throughout its model-allowing all involved to "put first things first," "be proactive" and "think win-win."
