This piece explores the concept of the New Aesthetic as well as Jean Braudrillard’s idea of simulacra and simulation.
A human has grown fond of a low poly character who exists in a virtual space within the physical world. The bridge between the human and the digital character is a digital device that allows the human to see the digital character. The human creeps the polygonal character until the battery of the device dies.
It portrays the “scopophillic interrelation between people and machines” and as part of its theme, it deals with the eruption of the digital into the physical world in an amplified way. It is about our perception of the digital space where the digital starts to interfere our lives, possibly to an emotional extent. It deals with simulacra and simulation as reality is replaced by symbols (in this case the low polygonal objects which represent current technology) which creates a new perception for humans to look at. In other words the simulacra is the new aesthetic elements composed of low poly imagery and pixilation, and the simulation is the experience of the first person point of view as he observes through the eyes of a machine.
