The Church on the Hill is a community hub located in Quarry Hill Bendigo.
Owned by the Uniting Church this site has been unused for years. Unused that is until a Christian Community called Cornerstone began using the space to build a new vision, a vision that has been transforming the hill to a vibrant hub. Youth, craft groups, movie nights, community events and a garden have gradually become a regular feature at the church. It is now really the centre for many in this suburb of Bendigo.
This film was an effort to present the Uniting Church evidence that the property was now vital to the community. The reason was that the property was tagged for auction. We wanted to offer a direct message that the community wanted the property to stay in the hands of the community, rather than potentially going to auction, where the highest price would have won and the community could have lost a vital asset.
The film was used in a meeting that would decide the fate of the sale and thankfully helped sway the church to see the benefits to be had by keeping the property in the hands of the community.
