NOTE: Sad to say I've had to stop the production of the documentary 'The Rye Lane Boycott', funding, time restrictions and other creative responsibilities have unfortunately lead me to end the films development.
The local community of Peckham held a boycott against 3 stores on the Peckham Rye Lane. An alleged incident where a young man had been unable to get a refund for two faulty blackberry’s phones from ‘Khans Mobile Accessories’ resulted in an argument and around 20 men made up of shop keepers and workers from surround stores rushed to harm the man. Armed with sticks, knives, cans and other weapons, the young man ran out of the shop and was chased to Peckham Rye train station. The campaign went on for 6 weeks and resulted in a public apology from Akbar Khan, owner of Khan’s Mobile Accessories the campaign also resulted in Southwark Council creating a Rye Lane Charter for the first time as a result of the boycott
