This sculpture was installed for the BrainArt Awards at Verge Gallery at the University of Sydney.
The theme of the exhibition was to explore understanding of the Brain. For myself, starting at first thinking about neurones and electro-magnetic pulses, and leading to broader concepts of the Mind and collective awareness.
As a final piece the work incorporated an alchemical mix of elements and media, such as bamboo, latex plastic, fabric, electronic devices and water. The forms of the work played upon the triangle as a fragmenting representation of the structures of awaresss, mystical geometry, and archetectural structures of Buckminster Fuller.
Life in the Brain Cloud is best viewed at night when the light play becomes visible, and the Cloud appears to float in a miasma of crystalline beauty, reinforcing the references to the processes of thought and imagination from the microcosm to the macrocosm.
