I just love this fella. He needs some practice chugging about the base pads, but he's a winner in my book. With the bald dome and the robes, why, he's a man after my own heart. And appearance.
Events such as this need more participation from characters like this one. The Nationals in MLB have it going the best with their former President's race, a much better showing and more likeable characters IMO than, say, the san Diego Chicken or the Phillies Green bugle-snouted alien (whom I've always found to be quite repellant).
Yet the Chicken had nothing on a certain care bear-type mascot I had a run-in with during a case involving a roller derby team & league who were clients of mine some years back. Craziest damned costume perpetrator I've ever come across, and most destructive, by far. Never did clear that one up satisfactorily.
Anywho With the right combination of affable characters, lively events and desirable prizes, these types of sideshow attractions have been a staple of entertainment and consumerism going hand in hand for generations. It really takes my back when I can just sit and relax, on my own time and my own dime, not working a case or mystery shopping anyone. Just me and my Cracker Jacks and Popcorn and a big gulp soda (when I'm not in NYC... Heh).
