Toronto design studio Castor Design has created a custom lighting installation for the TIFF Bell Lightbox, in which copper sulphate crystals were grown on a set of chandeliers. They collaborated with Derek Shapton to direct a short film to accompany the installation. Using a Olympus BX51 microscope, Derek created this time-lapse video; it will be showing for the next year, on display with the chandeliers, in the Bell Blue Room member's lounge. Sound design by D Burke Mahoney and post-production by Spot Cinema, with special thanks to the Advanced Optical Microscopy Facility at the University Health Network.
