Leonardo is a 30year old, Brazilian, and now Australian who has been living in Newcastle, New South Wales for the past 5 years. He lives locally with his family, working as a landscaper but fulfilling his greatest love-Surfing everyday possible, early as 5am starts to get his hit in the big old blue, surfing with locals, such as Novocastrians and other creatures like Dolphins, this short 2minute documentary shows you a step by step into a normal morning of Leo's surfing routine on the shores of Newcastle at the well-known Nobby's Head Beach under the iconic lighthouse. Leo talks of his homeland, kidnapping, and the freedom of living in Australia, the land of opportunity and big open spaces, 18 million people in 1 city like Sao Paulo is a big change for one to adjust to, and Leo is one man giving it all, 110% everyday, living life to the fullest and surfing one of Australia's east coast's most well-known surfing community.
Growing up in Brazil gave Leo a perspective of the world that most Australians couldn't imagine or haven't been exposed to. His accent and quirky, cheeky personality, is why we were so drawn to make this short Documentary about his interesting life in Australia, and most importantly-SURFING! One of the most aspects of Leo's views on life here in Aus, is the unique way that a sport such as surfing, brings all class, race, and cultures together in such a beautiful, natural and open environmental way, his passion and culture are reflected in this short Doco, steering clear of the cliché surfie-mentary that so many Novocastrians have made before us.
Check it out and enjoy close up shots of dolphins, first hand perspectives from a surfer catching a wave and beautiful morning sunrises on the iconic Nobby's Beach of Newcastle, Australia!
