Evrett and Ruth Chantry Lunquist have Common Good Farm near Raymond, Nebraska. Evrett gives a general introduction to their small, diversified, organic, biodynamic operation; what they do, and why. He talks about their pasture-raised eggs and how chickens fit into his rotation, and his farm's fertility program.
Evrett also talks about how they found land and financed it. One term that he mentions, the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA), is an agricultural bond program. There are similar programs found in any states that benefit someone who sells property (land, equipment, livestock) to a beginner. The seller receives federal tax-free interest on the sale, which is an incentive to either work with a beginner or to pass some of the savings on to the beginner with a lower interest on a sales contract.
