Property owners of Newcastle, WE WANT YOU!
Renew Newcastle has taken parts of a city that was verging on a ghost town and transformed them into active and vibrant spaces at no cost to property owners.
Renew Newcastle has launched more than 80 new projects and initiatives and opened up more than 50 once empty buildings; new, interesting and unique retail, leisure and business enterprises that have flourished in the CBD; projects that attract visitors and continue to cultivate the perception that Newcastle is a creative city with innovative and unique cultural offerings.
Renew Newcastle has launched several creative enterprises that have gone on to become commercially sustainable. It has succeeded in increasing commerce with its own projects and attracted new commercial tenants that have followed the foot traffic Renew Newcastle projects have generated.
Renew Newcastle is a community driven project that has received national and international attention and praise for quality and the extent of the result achieved thus far on an extremely modest budget relative to established philanthropic institutions.
The positive outcomes of Renew Newcastle was directly referenced as one of the main reasons that Newcastle was listed as one of the top ten cities to visit in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2011 – the first Australian city to ever make the list. They specifically cited “dozens of disused city-centre buildings occupied by photographers, fashion designers, digital artists and more as part of the inner-city regeneration scheme, Renew Newcastle.”
There isn’t a downside to being involved with Renew Newcastle. Everyone benefits.
Renew Newcastle needs more properties to activate in Newcastle's CBD, from the West End to the East End and everywhere in between. Renew Newcastle makes life easier, not harder, for property owners and using the energy and "sweat equity" of the local creative community to clean up and fix up the run down parts of Newcastle's CBD. All we need is your OK.
